Multi-Vehicle Accident with Rescue on Dulaney Valley Road in Lutherville: Rescue Box 30-20
January 24, 2012 - At approximately 3:10pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue on Dulaney Valley Road at Ivy Church Road and the Baltimore County Police Pistol Range in Lutherville. Squad 303 and Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route, Division Chief 5 (DC5) was first to arrive on scene and advised a multi-vehicle accident with various patients, including one critically injured heavily entrapped. DC5 established command and immediately requested additional medical resources to the scene along with a Maryland State Police medevac. Squad 303 and Engine 307 arrived moments later and initiated rescue group operations. Squad 303's crew, with assistance from Tower 17, immediately stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient by removing the roof along with the driver's side door. As the patient was heavily entrapped, the patient was extricated in approximately 20 minutes and was then packaged and transported to a local trauma center by medevac. Three other patients involved in the accident were also evaluated and transported to local hospitals for evaluation. The accident is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department. Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour.
Light Rail Train Accident in Lutherville: Fire-Rescue Box 30-10
January 23, 2012 - At approximately 7:55pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue involving a train with possible derailment and an auto fire at the intersection of West Seminary Avenue and Railroad Avenue in Lutherville. Located less than a mile from the station, Squad 303, Engine 302, and Engine 307 immediately responded and arrived moments later to find a light rail train and a vehicle involved in an accident. Squad 303 immediately established command and Lutherville crews quickly assessed the vehicle, train, and patients involved to determine what resources were needed. Upon investigation, no one was inside the car during the accident and no injuries were reported on the train as a result of the incident. Maryland Transit Administration Police is investigating the incident. Crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
Remembering LODD of Mark Falkenhan One Year Later
January 19, 2012 - Members of LVFC held a memorial at the Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens to honor Fallen PM/FF Mark Falkenhan, who died in the line of duty one year ago while battling an apartment fire in Hillendale. Vehicle Over Embankment Traps One in Hampton: Rescue Box 29-01
January 15, 2012 - At approximately 3:00am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Dulaney Valley Road and Seminary Avenue in Lutherville. Engine 302 and Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, dispatch updated the location of the incident to Seminary Avenue and Hickory Lot Road, approximately one mile from the original reported location. Station 1 (Towson) and Station 30 crews arrived shortly thereafter to find one vehicle over an embankment in a stream with one patient trapped. Squad 303's crew immediately stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient by forcing open one of the car doors. The patient suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
Head-on Collision Traps Two in Carney: Rescue Box 10-21
January 14, 2012 - At approximately 9:00pm, Squad 303 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Hartford Road and Knoll Acres Drive in Carney. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 10 (Parkville) advised a head-on collision with two patients trapped and established command. Due to the condition of one of the patients, a Maryland State Police medevac was requested. Squad 303 arrived shortly thereafter and assisted with patient extrication by removing the passenger side door and post. One patient was transported to a local trauma center by medevac and a second was transported by ground. Crews remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes.
LVFC Fills in Texas Station 17: Fire Box 47-06
January 08, 2012 - Due to a large brush / field fire near the intersection of Old York Road and Stockton Road in Jacksonville (Fire Box 47-06), Lutherville transferred a crew to fill in Station 17 (Texas) for approximately 2.5 hours while attending all remaining apparatus at Station 30.
Pedestrian Struck on York Road in Lutherville: Local Box 30-04
January 02, 2012 - At approximately 6:00pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with a pedestrian struck on York Road between Haddington Road and Ridgely Road in Lutherville. Engine 302 immediately responded and arrived moments later to find one critically injured patient that was struck by a vehicle. Engine 302's crew immediately assessed the patient and provided care. Due to the condition of the patient, a Maryland State Police Medevac was requested. A second crew from Lutherville, Engine 307, set up a landing zone at Lutherville Elementary School and assisted with packaging and loading the patient on the Medevac for transport to a local trauma center. Crews remained on scene for approximately 40 minutes.
Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-83 in Ruxton: Rescue Box 14-80
December 28, 2011 - At approximately 2:35pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue on the ramp between northbound Interstate 83 and the innerloop of Interstate 695 in Ruxton. Squad 303 and Engine 302 immediately responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 14 (Brooklandville) advised a mutli-vehicle accident with several critically injured patients, including two pediatrics. Due to the number and condition of the patients, additional medical resources were requested along with two Maryland State Police Medevac's. Squad 303 and Engine 302 crews arrived shortly thereafter and immediately assisted Station 14 units with patient assessment and care. Two patients were transported to local trauma centers by medevac. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour.
