Lutherville Responds to First-Due Rescue: Rescue Box 30-02
September 22, 2009 - At approximately 10:21am, Station 30 units were alerted for a 10-50PI Rescue on Pot Spring Road between Cinder Road and Deer Fox Lane. As Engine 307 was returning from a wires-down call, dispatch advised the crew to standby and prepare to copy a rescue assignment. E307 responded from the road while Squad 303 responded from the station. E307 was the first arriving unit on scene and reported one vehicle into a tree with one person heavily entrapped. Shortly thereafter, Squad 303 arrived along with Tower 17 and both units began shoring up the vehicle for stabilization purposes. Due to the awkward position of the vehicle and the uneven terrain, crews utilized Squad 303's crane, portable winch, and rescue struts to provide stabilization to the vehicle. Crews then worked to begin the lengthy extrication process of cutting the patient free, which was completed in approximately 35 minutes. The patient was then stabilized, packaged and prepared for transport to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Units on Scene: DC1, E307, SQ303, TOW17, M17, EMS7, E17, U304
