Early Morning 10-50 PI Rescue on Seminary Avenue: Haz-Mat Rescue Box 30-17

April 14, 2010 - Shortly after 7am, Lutherville VFC was alerted for a 10-50 PI rollover at the intersection of Seminary Avenue and Jamieson Road. Squad 303 responded with a crew of six and arrived on the scene minutes later. Upon arrival, the officer on 303 advised he had a truck on its side with one patient trapped and unconscious, and another car in the front lawn of a house. The officer requested a rescue assignment and a hazardous materials response because a large quantity of liquid fertilizer had spilled and was leaking from the truck. The squad crew immediately stabilized the truck and operated multiple tools in order to flap the roof and free the trapped driver. The patient was flown to Shock Trauma due to his injuries. Units remained on the scene for over an hour to pump the remaining fertilizer from the truck and assist with clean up. Units on scene: BC11, E307, SQ303, T1, M14, M1, EMS7, Haz-Mat 114, Foam 14, MD Dept. of Environment and Trooper 1
