2-Alarm Apartment Fire in Rodgers Forge: Fire Box 01-14

May 05, 2010 - At approximately 11:40pm, Station 30 was alerted for the apartment fire on Blenheim Road in Rodgers Forge. Initially, Engine 1 was dispatched to the general location of Rodgers Forge Road and Blenheim Road to investigate an odor of burning. As Engine 1 arrived in the vicinity, a heavy odor of smoke was present and the officer requested a fire box assignment. Upon arrival, Station 1 units requested the working fire dispatch for a basement fire with heavy smoke showing and later requested a second alarm assignment as the fire and smoke intensified. Engine 307 arrived as the third engine, established a secondary water source, and assisted crews with the initial fire attack. Squad 303 arrived shortly thereafter and conducted a primary search of and ventilated the apartment building. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours. (Photos by Michael Schwartzberg)
