Two Trapped in Accident with Medevac in Towson: Rescue Box 29-04

November 09, 2011 - At approximately 11:00am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and Cromwell Bridge Road in Towson. Engine 19 (Garrison), which had come across the accident and was the first unit on scene, established command and advised two patients trapped in a vehicle that was T-Boned / broadsided and immediately requested a rescue box assignment along with additional medical resources to the scene, including Maryland State Police Medevac. Squad 303 immediately responded, along with Engine 307, and while en route command advised Squad 303 to plan accordingly as crane operations were to be utilized as the vehicle was resting in an unstable position. Upon arrival, Lutherville crews immediately stabilized the vehicle by utilizing cribbing as well as Squad 303's crane. Crews then worked together and operated four rescue tools simultaneously to remove all four doors and the roof of the car in order to extricate the patients, who were then packaged and transported to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Units remained on scene for approximately one hour.
