Working Apartment Fire on Southerly Road in Towson: Fire Box 01-35

June 25, 2012 - At approximately 7:55pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a fire on the 5th floor of a mid-rise apartment building located on Southerly Road in Towson. Engine 302 and Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 1 (Towson) arrived to find nothing evident from the exterior. Upon further investigation, Station 1 crews received reports from residents and discovered heavy smoke conditions on the 5th floor and immediately requested a working fire assignment. As the second arriving engine company on scene, Engine 302's crew secured Engine 1's primary water source and immediately made way to the fire floor. Utilizing the standpipe in the stair tower as a water source, Engine 302's crew deployed a high-rise hose pack and extinguished the fire which was primarily contained to one apartment bedroom. Squad 303 and Engine 301's crew also responded and assisted with various tasks. Crews remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes.
