Car into Tree Traps One in Chestnut Ridge: Rescue Box 50-15
July 09, 2012 - At approximately 10:30pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue on Greenspring Avenue between Greenspring Valley Road and Highview Drive in Chestnut Ridge. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 50 (Chestnut Ridge) arrived to find one vehicle into a tree with one patient heavily entrapped and established command. Squad 303 arrived shortly thereafter and immediately engaged in rescue operations. Crews from Lutherville (Station 30), Chestnut Ridge (Station 50), Brooklandvile (Station 14), and Texas (Station 17) worked to extricate the patient by removing the roof and doors of the vehicle and by rolling the dash. After approximately 30 minutes, the critically injured patient was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local trauma center via Maryland State Police medevac. Engine 302 also responded on the incident and assist with securing the medevac landing zone. Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour. (Photos by Michael Schwartzberg)
