LVFC Participates in ABC2News KinderTime Toy Drive


December 20, 2011 - To benefit underprivileged children located in our community, LVFC participated in ABC2News KinderTime Toy Drive by donating, collecting and delivering toys to ABC2News headquarters. In addition, in conjunction with ABC2News and other local fire and police personnel, LVFC members will assist with distribution of toys to underprivileged children in the area on Thursday, December 22nd. LVFC would like to thank those who participated in and made a donation to the toy drive, particularly members of our local community and Ravens Nest #2.

New Engine 302 Placed in Service


December 19, 2011 - The members of LVFC placed in service new Engine 302, a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT, which includes a 1,000 gallon water tank. LVFC wishes to thank Pierce Manufacturing, Atlantic Emergency Solutions, and members of Lutherville's Engine Committee for all the time and effort put into developing the new apparatus.

Vehicle Over Embankment Traps One in Towson: Rescue Box 29-10


December 15, 2011 - At approximately 10:55am, Squad 303 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Metfield Road and Beech Hill Lane in Towson. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, Truck 297 arrived to find a one vehicle down an embankment with one patient trapped and established command. Squad 303 arrived shortly thereafter and stood by as Truck 297's crew stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient. The patient was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 25 minutes.

Members Attend LODD Funeral in Worcester


December 15, 2011 - Several members traveled to Worcester, Massachusetts to attend the funeral of and pay respect to Fallen Firefighter Jon D. Davies Sr. of the Worcester Fire Department. FF Davies, a 17-year veteran of the Worcester Fire Department, tragically lost his life in the line of duty while searching for a reported trapped victim in an apartment fire which occurred on Thursday, December 8th. LVFC would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of FF Davies and the members of the Worcester Fire Department.

Two Trapped in Overturned Vehicle in Parkville: Rescue Box 10-12


December 13, 2011 - At approximately 3:45pm, Squad 303 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Perring Parkway and Putty Hill Avenue in Parkville. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, Engine 10 (Parkville) arrived to find a one vehicle overturned with two patients trapped and established command. Prior to Squad 303's arrival, Engine 10's crew extricated the patients by removing the windshield of the vehicle. Squad 303's crew arrived shortly thereafter and assisted units on scene with patient care. Two patients were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Garage Fire on Pot Spring Road in Lutherville: Fire Box 30-05


December 04, 2011 - At approximately 11:50pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a dwelling fire on Pot Spring Road between Welford Road and East Ridgely Road in Lutherville. Engine 307 and Squad 303 responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 29 (Providence) and Station 1 (Towson) advised units of a garage fire with smoke showing and established command. Shortly thereafter, the fire was quickly extinguished and a search of the dwelling was conducted. Lutherville crews laid a supply line to the incident and assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Crews remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes.

Dwelling Fire with Tanker Strike Team in Brooklandville: Fire Box 14-01


November 27, 2011 - At approximately 9:50am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a dwelling fire on Wyndam Court off of Falls Road in Brooklandville. Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route, Engine 14 (Brooklandville) arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the dwelling, established command, and immediately requested a tanker strike team as no hydrants were located in the immediate vicinity. As the second arriving unit, Engine 307's crew laid supply line to the incident, conducted a primary search of the dwelling, and advanced a back-up handline to the first floor to assist with extinguishment as Engine 14's crew made primary attack on the basement fire. Crews remained on scene for approximately 3.5 hours.

Vehicle into Building with Rescue in Hillendale: Rescue Box 11-08


November 18, 2011 - At approximately 11:00pm, Squad 303 was alerted to respond to the report of a vehicle into a building with rescue at the shopping center located at the intersection of Taylor Avenue and Loch Raven Boulevard in Hillendale. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, Engine 11 (Hilledale) arrived on scene to find one vehicle into a building with one patient trapped. Squad 303 arrived shortly thereafter and stoodby as crews from Truck 1 (Towson) and Engine 11 (Hillendale) extricated the patient by removing the driver's side door. The patient was packaged and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 20 minutes.

Two Trapped in Accident with Medevac in Towson: Rescue Box 29-04


November 09, 2011 - At approximately 11:00am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with rescue at the intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and Cromwell Bridge Road in Towson. Engine 19 (Garrison), which had come across the accident and was the first unit on scene, established command and advised two patients trapped in a vehicle that was T-Boned / broadsided and immediately requested a rescue box assignment along with additional medical resources to the scene, including Maryland State Police Medevac. Squad 303 immediately responded, along with Engine 307, and while en route command advised Squad 303 to plan accordingly as crane operations were to be utilized as the vehicle was resting in an unstable position. Upon arrival, Lutherville crews immediately stabilized the vehicle by utilizing cribbing as well as Squad 303's crane. Crews then worked together and operated four rescue tools simultaneously to remove all four doors and the roof of the car in order to extricate the patients, who were then packaged and transported to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. Units remained on scene for approximately one hour.

Truck Fire on Beltway in Brooklandville: Local Box 14-63


November 08, 2011 - At approximately 6:00am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a tractor trailer fire on the inner loop of Interstate 695 between Greenspring Avenue and Falls Road. Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route, dispatched advised responding units that multiple calls have been received with an updated location of inner loop of Interstate 695 between Stevenson Road and Greenspring Avenue. First arriving units from Station 2 (Pikesville) and Station 14 (Brooklandville) arrived on scene to find the rear portion of a tractor trailer fully involved. Engine 307's crew assisted units on scene by "opening up" the trailer so that fire attack crews could gain access to the seat of the fire while Engine 307's driver supplied water to the fire attack pumper. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour.
