Fully Involved Detached Garage Fire in Brooklandville: Fire Box 14-17


October 15, 2011 - At approximately 9:15am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a garage fire on Falls Road between Walnut Avenue and Gardman Avenue in Brooklandville. Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route Engine 14 advised responding units that a column of smoke was visible in the distance. Shortly thereafter, Engine 14 arrived to find a detached garage fully involved and established command. Engine 307's crew remained on scene for approximately 1 hour and assisted units on scene with extinguishment and overhaul. After clearing the incident, Engine 307's crew filled in Station 14 (Brooklandville) for approximately 1 hour.

Jack-Knifed Tractor Trailer with HazMat: Local Box 30-80


October 14, 2011 - At approximately 5:00am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with injury on the ramp between outerloop of I-695 and I-83 North (Harrisburg Expressway) in Lutherville. Engine 307 responded and arrived moments later to find a jack-knifed tractor trailer with one of the saddle fuel tanks punctured as a result of the accident. Due to the leak, Engine 307 requested additional resources to the scene, including HazMat 114 as well as an emergency response unit from the Maryland Department of the Environment. Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour.

Accident Traps One on I-83 in Lutherville: Rescue Box 30-80


September 14, 2011 - At approximately 9:00pm, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle accident with an unknown status on Interstate 83 North between Interstate 695 and Timonium Road in Lutherville. Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route, dispatch advised reports of one person trapped and upgraded the incident to a rescue box assignment. Engine 307 arrived moments later to find one person trapped and established command. Squad 303's crew, along with Tower 17 and Truck 1, extricated the patient by removing the roof along with the driver side door. The patient was then packaged and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 40 minutes.

Remnants of Hurricane Lee Keep LVFC Busy


September 07, 2011 - As the remnants of Hurricane Lee pass through the mid-Atlantic region, significant rainfall has caused serious flooding and hazardous conditions throughout the area. Throughout the day, crews from LVFC responded to various storm related calls throughout Lutherville and central Baltimore County, including several swift water rescues.

LVFC Member Recognized for 9/11 Service


September 06, 2011 - In a recent article published in the Towson Times, Lutherville Volunteer member and immediate past president John Gochnauer was recognized for service he provided at Ground Zero following the 9/11 terror attacks on New York's World Trade Center. As a member of the management support group for Maryland's National Disaster Medical System team, Gochnauer spent three months at Ground Zero as night supervisor of the medical facilities set up to treat rescue workers, construction workers and utility personnel. LVFC Attends Baltimore Grand Prix Kick-Off Event


September 01, 2011 - LVFC would like to thank Holmatro, Chesapeake Fire & Rescue Equipment, and organizers of the Baltimore Grand Prix for inviting Squad 303 and members to the kick-off event for the 2011 Baltimore Grand Prix at Holmatro's USA Headquarters located in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Generator Accident in Lutherville: Local Fire Box 30-06


August 31, 2011 - At approximately 6:00 am, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a burn patient on Croftley Road in Lutherville. Engine 307 immediately responded and arrived moments later to find a patient who had been burned by gasoline while refueling a hot generator. While rendering care to the patient and upon further investigation, the crew found the generator and the exterior of the back patio of the dwelling to be on fire and immediately requested a local fire box assignment. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension to the structure. The patient was transported to a local burn center for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour.

Overturned Vehicle with Rescue in Lutherville: Rescue Box 30-05


August 30, 2011 - Shortly before midnight, Station 30 was alerted to respond to the report of a motor vehicle with rescue at the intersection of York Road and Seminary Avenue in Lutherville. Squad 303 and Engine 307 immediately responded and while en route, dispatched advised responding units that police were on scene and advised one patient trapped at location. Upon arrival, Squad 303 confirmed a multi-vehicle accident with one patient trapped in an overturned vehicle and established command. Squad 303's crew, with assistance from Station 1 crews, quickly stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient, who was then packaged and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Crews remained on scene for approximately 40 minutes.

Fatal Dwelling Fire in Hereford: Fire Box 44-16


August 30, 2011 - At approximately 12:30am, Squad 303 was alerted to respond to the report of a dwelling fire with rescue on Big Falls Road in Hereford. Squad 303 immediately responded and while en route, first arriving units from Station 44 (Hereford) advised a single family dwelling with heavy fire showing and established command. Due to the rural area and lack of fire hydrants, command immediately requested a tanker strike team to shuttle water along with a working fire assignment to bring additional resources to the scene. Shortly thereafter, Squad 303 arrived to find units on scene hard at work locating the trapped victim and beginning to put a knock the fire. Squad 303's crew immediately went to work and operated several hand lines, knocking down a large amount of fire throughout the house while protecting crews making rescue. Engine 307 also responded as part of the working fire assignment and assumed RIT. Station 30 crews remained on scene for nearly 4 hours and conducted extensive overhaul operations. Lutherville Volunteers Battle Hurricane Irene


August 27, 2011 - As Hurricane Irene passed through the region, Lutherville Volunteers remained busy and responded to approximately 80+ storm related calls over the weekend throughout Lutherville and central Baltimore County. Approximately 20+ members volunteered a large portion of their weekend and remained at the station to fully staff all apparatus before, during, and after the storm.
